Our history

A house with tradition

The Fischerhof is one of the oldest farms in all of Dorf Tirol, as evidenced by the fully preserved natural stone foundation walls, some of which are up to 1.5 meters thick, and the rustic vaults in the cellar. The farm was first documented in 1535, but the foundation was certainly laid several centuries earlier.

Fischerhof Dorf Tirol

In the 1950s, wealthy individuals from Austria and South Germany discovered this uniquely beautifully located estate, which at the time was mainly used for livestock farming and winemaking. They encouraged the grandparents of the current owner to begin offering rooms for rent.
Over time, the Fischerhof has developed into what it is today: a beautiful property, a peaceful place of tranquility and relaxation, with one special feature – its unique exotic garden, which has been created over the last 35 years by the current owner and is lovingly maintained with much passion and personal effort.
Now, the next generation is hard at work to offer you a unique vacation experience. Every single family member contributes wherever possible – and that's certainly needed, as the Fischerhof is not only a guesthouse but has remained an agricultural operation to this day. We still personally work on our vineyards and are able to offer our guests excellent homemade wines and other agricultural products in our Courtyard tavern.

Due to the terraced slopes on two different levels, two completely distinct yet harmonious garden areas were created.
The upper Mediterranean garden area is home to the rustic Hofschank, surrounded by gnarled olive trees, dragon trees, a variety of colorful oleander bushes, cacti, lavender, broom, cypress trees, pines, a Mediterranean herb garden, and much more...
The lower garden area, where our large swimming pool is located, is a lush exotic palm oasis, in which you'll discover countless varieties of palms, bananas, fig trees, elephant ears, the Los tree, giant bamboo, Indian rhubarb, lilies, and as a botanical highlight, majestic Tasmanian tree ferns—ancient relics from the dinosaur age. Many of these plants would not normally thrive here, but through experimentation and persistence, some exotic plants have been successfully acclimatized and now present themselves in all their glory.
